Be careful with your Twitter
This is not my article, I find it on a Swedish site, CS Jobb, and has just translated it. I also would like a send the credit to the author Rebecca Guzman for the article.
Today Twitter is a strong medium for companies to hire people, or to check on their employees. This has led to problems for many, today young people publishes all sorts of things online without thinking, this can, and has made problems for people, that twittering or posting things on their Facebook.
Here are five people who did not got the job or was fired from their jobs after twittering
1. Comedian Gilbert Gottfried, who was the insurance company AFLAC voice for decades, made it distasteful choice to make jokes about Japan-disaster on Twitter. One of the jokes was “What the Japanese have in common with @ Howard Stern? Well they are both radioactive “. Aflec, which has 75 percent of its market in Japan, chose to kick Gottfried.
2. CNN editor Octavia Nasr was fired in July 2010 after she ruled on the controversial Muslim leader Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah on Twitter. In connection with his death, she twittered “I am sorry Sayyed Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah death … One of Hezbollah’s major leaders who I respect.” It was a big uprising in the media and her credibility as a journalist was questioned. As a result, she eventually got fired.
3. 22-year-old Connor Riley tweeted about a job offer from Cisco: “Cisco offered me a great a job! Now I have to weigh a fat paycheck to commute to San Jose and a job I hate. “A Cisco employee saw the comment and replied:” Anyone who intends to hire you is probably interested to know that you will hate the job. ” The result was obvious that he got the job.
4. That was when the consultant, who worked for the Detroit-based automaker Chrysler, once again stuck in a traffic jam on the way to work that he lost patience, logged onto his employer’s Twitter account and wrote “Ironically, that Detroit is known as” motor city “when no one here even manage to run a f *** ing car “. To top it all was consultant adviser in social media for Chrysler, which immediately reacted to the consultant’s Twitter comments and the consultant fired.
5. Attorney Jeff Cox, who works in the state of Indiana, called the police on Twitter to “live rounds” against demonstrators in Wisconsin. It all led to a Twitter debate with journalist Adam Weinstein, who works at the news magazine Mother Jones, where Cox, inter alia, the demonstrators called for political enemies. Weinstein chose to publish details of their discussion in an article the following week. Then got Cox to leave his post.
Google get smalller in China
Google loses market in China…
China’s largest Internet portal Sina have replaced Google’s services with its own technology. This is a real setback for Google’s presence in the country.
Google has lost market in China since January last year, when the company that it will not longer agree to censor the content to comply with the Chinese government’s rules. Google have also accused China of blocking the e-mail service Gmail, which, however, is denied by China
Google is one of the few companies that have stood up to China, but according to Google, it is not just China that censor, they claims that more than 40 governments worldwide use of large-scale censorship of information via the Internet.

iOS bigger then Linux
Those of you who follow me here knows that I came in contact with Linux by a friend back in 1993.
At that time the installation was not graphic, and I have said before that Linux ‘Will Never” grow strong for the home users as long as this not was sorted.
In late 2004, the first vesionen of Ubunto came and it have graphical interface.
Linux began to grow, got more and more users, but it never went that big as I thought it should be. And now, many years after has iOS for Apple iPad passed Linux all distrubation in less then one year
As I’ve written before, Windows 7 is the most widely used OS in the U.S. by 32%, followed by 31% for Windows Xp, Windows Vista, with 19% and Apple Mac X by nearly 15%
Linux has only 0.7% and is then passed by the iOS for iPad with 1.20%. Another thing we should have in mind, is that the IOS is only used by iPad (mobiles are not included) while the other OS is used on both laptops and desktops
YouTube start to using HTML5
Googles YouTube will start using WebM… Will this be the death of Adobe Flash?
The war between Adobe (Flash) and Apple, because Apple’s continued refusal to flash in their system, has probably no one miss.
Many have believed and claim that this going to be flash’s death, and Adobe has been fighting for their flash as their program. Adobe flash is the biggest one on the market.
But there are also quite a few, including me, who said that Apple’s refusal to Flash will not have too much significance to flash to be or not be on the Web in coming years. This is because of YouTube video clips, archival work in flash.
But now it’s perhaps over …
Google has announced that all new videos uploaded on YouTube from now will be encoded to the open format Webm. But for YouTube, to konventera all video-clips, that is already on the site, will take time, so flash will still be an important part of YouTube for some time foreward.
Google has also announced that they will end with their own “Google Video” this service never have a real breakthrough. On May 15 they shut down this service.
Browsers like Firefox, Chrome and Opera are already prepared for WebM while Internet Explorer and Safari have to install a plugin to run the video in this format

Happy Birthday FTP
Last Sunday turned ftp (file transfer protocol) 40…
FTP standarn is been around ever since 16 April 1971 and is still used widely around the world.
Abhay BuAbhay Bushan called the man who created the original FTP protocol when he studied at the Massachusetts Institute of Tehcnology. The specification that allowed large file transfers on the Arpanet was published as RFC 114 April 16, 1971, which means that the protocol is now over 40 years old.
Ftp quickly became a standard when it tolerate temporary disruptions in the transfers and requires a minimal amount of so-called handshake between the parties, but all traffic is in clear text which means security risks.
But meantime it has become more secure and since 1996 is started to be combined with SSL encryption.
Despite the challengers as P2P networks, is not likely that ftp protocol will disapear in the next few years.
Android Honeycomb Source Code Available
the source code for Google’s Android operating system version Honeycomb is available
Computer manufacturer Asus is the company that have uploaded the source code Android Honeycomb, even before Google itself.
Asus has recently launched their new pad, Transformer, and when it made the the source code the Honeycombs kernel available.
On their site, they say that is version V8.2.2.6 and the file is a 97 megabyte zip file. The entire code for Android 3.0, you will not get, but probably enough to interest developer to start developing for other devices than Transformer.
Asus haven’t done anything wrong, they simply followed the rules under the GNU General Public License (GPL), there it actually says that the source code of a product must comply with or be made available.
Google itself has not released the code and the have even delayed the delivery of the operating system to developers. The only thing thatis been around software development kit for Android 3.0 Honeycomb, that has been available since late February.
New Self-Encrypting Harddisc From Toshiba
Hard drives that erase themselves if they are connected to an unknown computer…
Toshiba new hard drives, Self-Encrypting Drives (SED) is a 2.5-inch 7200-rpm discs, intended for use to protect sensitive information.
The units are available in capacities 160 to 640 gigabytes, has 16 megabytes memory buffer and uses the SATA interface, 2.0. It have a 256-bit encryption to protect data and a self-erasing technology controlled by an authentication policy called Opal Storage Specification, the Trusted Computing Group. The system enables the disk to determine if it is a connected to an approved host.
When the hard drive is started, Toshiba’s new SED hard drives perform an authentication. If authentication fails, the device may either be configured to simply deny access or to perform cryptographic erasure of the specified data. This means that encryption keys are deleted, leaving data permanently encrypted and unreadable.
Helpful Plugin For WebDeveloper
For those, like me, who working with web-design and web-development, know how frustrating it can be to open up pages in various web browsers to see how they appear in them.
There are a small plugin that is very helpful. The plugin are called “Open With” and is now in version 5.0.2
What the program does is that it offers a quick way to open the pages you’re on in any of the other browsers that may be installed on your computer. In that way you can quickly see how different the page interpret in the different browser.
“Open With” is only available as a plugin for Firefox.

Winklevoss lost against Facebook
There were not many people knew about the twins Winklevoss before the movie “The Social Network”…
Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss was the twins who accused Mark Zuckerberg of stealing the ide to Facebook.
The twins Winklevoss and Mark Zuckerberg, made a settlement in 2008, and the twins Winklevoss got Facebook-Shares for $ 65 million.
They have appealed against the settlement afterwards, and argues that Facebook gave them false information about the value of the shares, according to the twins, the information about the company’s value has been exaggerated, and that they believed that the shares were worth four times more than the actual value, the also says that if they had known the true value, they had Never sign the sattelment, and wanted the court to tear up the contract.
Judge Alex Kozinski rejected the request, and wrote in his report, “The Brothers Winklevoss is not the first to be outsmarted by a competitor and then by legal battles trying to win back what they lost in the market” and rejected the request.
The judge also noted that the twins had highly paid lawyers and their father, who shall be an expert in valuation.
It remains to be seen whether this was now the last “fight” between Mark Zuckerberg and the twins Winklevoss
Nokia lunch smartphones with sybian
Why are Nokia still develop Sybian….
Not long ago, Nokia advertiser that they should work together with Microsoft, and use their mobile “Windows Mobil 7″.
But Nokia have just released two new smart phones, Nokia X7 and Nokia E6, and they will both use one updated version of Symbian. They say themselves that they have made over 50 improvements. The operating system has recently been heavily criticized for being old and inefective to the two big competitors, Android and IOS.
Nokia E6 is a “follow-up” to the success with the popular E71 and E72. With a complete physical keyboard, a screen of 2.46 inch, 256 MB of RAM, 8 GB hours of storage, 7,5h talktime, WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS.
Nokia X7, has support for recording video in HD quality, an 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and battery of 1200 mAh that will provide up to 4.5 hours talk time.
It might not be anything wrong with updating an outdated system, but given work with Microsoft and the fact that the Sybian is so far behind already, I think it would probably have been better to put all enargi on Windows Mobile, and bury the Sybian once and for all
Mark Zuckerberg, Mad Magazine’s Latest Coverboy
I was reading an article on Mashable, and it made me nostalgic…
Many years ago I read a magazine called “MAD” on a regular basic. I thought that the Journal no longer exsisterade … But it do.
The text that follows is not mine, I’ve copied it straight from Mashable, and sends a big thank you to Charlie White.
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg will grace the cover of Mad Magazine in about a week, in an issue whose cover story is entitled “The 50 Worst Things About Facebook.”
Zuckerberg is on a roll. After hobnobbing with President Obama (whose face has also been on the cover of Mad), appearing on Saturday Night Live, interviewing with Leslie Stahl on 60 Minutes, being the subject of an Oscar-nominated movie, having his likeness replicated in comic books and action figures, and even finding his name on a worst-dressed list, you might say that Zuckerberg’s circle of fame is complete. Not bad for the 52nd wealthiest person in the world.
When TechCrunch asked Mad Magazine editor John Ficarra why Mark was on the cover of his humorous periodical, Ficarra replied, “It was a pure business decision. We got a cool $2 mil from the Winklevoss twins to ‘poke’ him a new one.”
In anticipation of Zuckerberg’s debut on the cover of this hilarious mag (which we’ve loved for years), let’s try to figure out what the article will cite as some of the 50 worst things about Facebook. What do you think, commenters?
Windows 7 Is Now The Largest OS In USA
StatCounter, has in a study concluded that Windows 7 now has passed Windows XP as the most widely used operating system in the United States.
Windows 7 has taken market-share from both Windows XP and Vista, and this has made the Windows 7 now has passed XP, and it is the largest operating system. Mac OS X has made a marginal increase, but does not reach 15%. While Linux has almost not changed at all but it dont even reach 1%
Microsoft is constantly trying to reduce the use of their older operating systems, and this is done in a rather ugly way.
By stopping the popular program from working on them. Latest is the Internet Explorer 9, that can not be used with Windows XP.
But many companies are choosing to wait before the make upgrade of Windows XP, much to the part of the high license costs, but also because of uncertainty about the functioning of the program.
Facebook And China = ?
There have new been rumors that Facebook is about to enter the Chinese market…
Such rumors have we heard several times over the past three years, but this time the information is from more than one reliable industry sources.
Rumors also say that the agrement between Facebook and China have been made up, that it will be a closed Facebook just for China, so if you expect to finnerly be able to get your Chinese friend as FB-friends, forget it, The Chinese version of Facebook will not be linked with the rest of the site.
Marbridge Consulting** said they had also heard from several industry sources, that Facebook will work with Baidu in the new China site
According to Tech Rice, will the cooperation with Baidu, China’s largest search engine, be worth $ 50 billion.
We just have to wait and see if there is any truth to this rumor, this time. But given that how the Chinese government’s censorship of the Internet working, I do not think that Facebook will reach a large audience in China.

Microsoft… Why?
Here we go again…
Those of you who follow my blog know how I reasoning about Windows. Windows 7 is very stable compared with the early versions, and now I use windows much more than when I ran in XP (I will not even mention Vista) I have also said that Microsoft is the only company in the world that can sell a half finished program.
Once again, Microsoft will released a record updated. This update are also includes Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer, and it will sort 64 bugs.
The update consists 17 partial update, and nine of them are rated as critical. The remaining eight are classified as importan.
The update are as you can read not only for Windows, its for the 3 biggest Microsoft software. Anyway… I dont think no other software are being update that offen and with that many fixes like Microsofts program
It would have been fun to count all the updates that are made the last 18 months, but the risk had been that I would go back to my PC-dealer and ask for the money back.

Norwegian Opera has reached 100 million downloads
The browser war is extremely hard and it is difficult to break into when to fight IE, Firefox and Chrome, but on the mobile side, the Norwegian Web browser Opera successful player.

This may sound a lot but you to know that Opera has more than 100 million users for its mobile phone version Opera Mini.

8 megapixel in iPhone 5
It have come rumored that Apple iPhone will get an 8 megapixel camera from Sony, and with the recent outage in Japan due to earthquakes can Apple’s new smartphone to be properly delayed.
Howard Stinger, CEO of Sony, said in a statement to the Wall Street Journal that their best sensor technologies are in one of the manufacturing facilities affected by the stop and that they should be sent to Apple. Even if iPhone 5 is not mentioned explicitly as many believe that it is the model that will get the sensors.
Already in April 2010 wrote one analyst that Sony would provide sensors on 8 megapixels to the iPhone 5.
Apple has not confirmed the use of sensors from Sony and will probably not do so until the present of Iphone 5. But now it is confirmed that the production has stopped in Japan and deliveries will be delay.
If there is an 8 megapixel sensor, it does not mean that the images will be better than current iPhone, but it gives a hint on what improvements Apple trying to do.
Nexus S, how good is it?
Google mobile Nexus S, how good is it?
Very good if you listen to the reviews and look at all tests made, Engadget even went so far as they Gave it reviewed ,” The best Android mobile ever made ”
Nexus S is a clean Android phone without any superimposed interface, and that means that you will get the latest updates first.
Nexus S is very fast, and Android 2.3 it also faster than previous versions. But Nexus S have get strong criticism that it dont have space for a micro-sd card, so for those who buy a Nexus S may simply be content with a built-in memory of 16 gigabytes .
Photoshop Express for Iphone and Ipad
Are you taking lots of photos with your mobile phone?
Photoshop Express 2.0 is then an excellent app, and its free.
The app is only available for IOS machines, not for Android, a think its little weak, given Android’s growth over the past year.
The app has a wide variety of basic editing tools like, cropping, straightening, flipping and rotating. It is also possible to adjust color levels, saturation and brightness. A number of filters and special effects and a lot of frames that can be added around the pictures. Its also possible to share the edit pictures with other IOS devices.
The mobile version of Photoshop will never be a replacement for the desktop version of the software, but for a mobile app, it is incredibly impressive.
