iOS bigger then Linux
Those of you who follow me here knows that I came in contact with Linux by a friend back in 1993.
At that time the installation was not graphic, and I have said before that Linux ‘Will Never” grow strong for the home users as long as this not was sorted.
In late 2004, the first vesionen of Ubunto came and it have graphical interface.
Linux began to grow, got more and more users, but it never went that big as I thought it should be. And now, many years after has iOS for Apple iPad passed Linux all distrubation in less then one year
As I’ve written before, Windows 7 is the most widely used OS in the U.S. by 32%, followed by 31% for Windows Xp, Windows Vista, with 19% and Apple Mac X by nearly 15%
Linux has only 0.7% and is then passed by the iOS for iPad with 1.20%. Another thing we should have in mind, is that the IOS is only used by iPad (mobiles are not included) while the other OS is used on both laptops and desktops
8 megapixel in iPhone 5
It have come rumored that Apple iPhone will get an 8 megapixel camera from Sony, and with the recent outage in Japan due to earthquakes can Apple’s new smartphone to be properly delayed.
Howard Stinger, CEO of Sony, said in a statement to the Wall Street Journal that their best sensor technologies are in one of the manufacturing facilities affected by the stop and that they should be sent to Apple. Even if iPhone 5 is not mentioned explicitly as many believe that it is the model that will get the sensors.
Already in April 2010 wrote one analyst that Sony would provide sensors on 8 megapixels to the iPhone 5.
Apple has not confirmed the use of sensors from Sony and will probably not do so until the present of Iphone 5. But now it is confirmed that the production has stopped in Japan and deliveries will be delay.
If there is an 8 megapixel sensor, it does not mean that the images will be better than current iPhone, but it gives a hint on what improvements Apple trying to do.
iPad2 have sold one million copies
Friday a week ago Apple released iPad 2…
But only on the U.S. market, according to Reuters, the surf board have already sold one million copies.
For the first version of iPad, Apple needed 1 month to reach the same amount.
The new iPad is thinner and faster than iPad 1 and have also a twin cameras for video and chat. The model on the U.S. market have a price that starts on $ 499
Adobe backs against Apple
Adobe have releases a software that converts Flash to HTML5. It will facilitate the publication of the flash material to Apple’s IOS devices.
Adobe previewed parts of the technology in the company’s MAX 2010 conference. And its availiable for immediate download on Adobe Labs.
The new software called Wallaby and will be available to download for both Mac and PC. The company describes the program as an experimental version which therefore must convert the contents of the Adobe Flash Professional files to HTML, for use in Webkitbaserade browser. Adobe has tested the software in 8 Chrome and Safari (version 5.0.3) on both OSX / Windows and IOS 4.2. When the convertion is made, you can edit the content in Dreamweaver, or “knock” the code by yourself.
If you want to test the application, it can be downloaded and read more about Wallaby here.
And by clicking here, you can find information about the type of Flash content that can be converted.
New iPad on the way
Just as expected, announced Apple today in San Fransisco that iPad2 are coming soon. More surprising was that Steve Jobs was the one who entered the stage in San Francisco.
First Steve Jobs said that, was that iPad1 have sold 15 million units in nine months and that there are now 65 000 apps that are working for iPad.
IPad has dual-core processor, (the first surf board with it). The graphics will be much better than iPad1.
As it is rumored, iPad2 will come with 2 cameras, one front and one back. Of course, the cameras are supporting Photo Booth (which were previously only available on Apple computers) and video-call feature Face Time. New iPad is also thinner, only 8.8 millimeters, which makes it thinner than the iPhone 4th Batterytime remains at ten hours, although the plate become thinner. IPad2 will be sold in two colors, white and black.
The price for the smallest model that has wifi is $ 499, and will be released on March 11 in U.S..
With the new iPad2 comes the next version of IOS, 4.3 which has a number of innovations. Most interesting is the extended capabilities to stream media over the network at home and that you can use the Iphone 4 as a wireless network router.
On the accessories side, Apple offers an interesting cord that is holding out for 1080p HDMI and you can have it directly into your TV, the cable costs $ 39. Another accessory is the smart covers, a flexible sleeve that barely takes any space. Using magnets is to held cover in place. Smart covers come in several colors and costs $ 69.
Sony stop Apple iTunes.
Sony indicates that in the near future they may cancel the agreement that made it possible for Apple to sell music from Sony Music Entertainment.
This would mean that artists like Bob Dylan and Beyoncé can not be bought through iTunes anymore.
- Publishers are held hostage to Apple and they are actively searching for other delivery systems, “said Michael Ephraim, managing director of Sony Computer.
Michael Ephraim, said further that sony will proberly not release the PlayStation Titles for IOS.
Sony Music Unlimited was launched on December 22, equivalent to the iTunes Store. To gain access to the six million songs, you must have a computer, TV, bluray player or game console from Sony at, surprisingly enough, it has not been heard a few dissenting voices on the “lock” in this case.
This is a protest against the “closed” Apple’s mobile platform is. However, it will focus on Android-based devices such as Samsung and Motorola Defy Galaxy.
So far there is “Music Unlimited” only in Europe, but Australia are next in line and within a year it is hoped that it will be available in all major markets.
Apple TV 2, is not a hit
Apple TV 2 is Apple’s latest attempt to conquer even the living room.
But everything related to Apple, is not gold.
Even products that many had skeptics before they were released, for example, the first iPhone and now iPad, has proved to sell very well and in some cases dominate its product segments.
A product that does not have managed to dominate the Apple TV. It was simply too limited when it was released and although it is now possible to “hack” it so is the hardware still a bit lacking when it comes to cope with high definition media.
Therefore many had high hopes when the Apple TV 2 would be launched earlier this fall. At the end, Apple would show where the cabinet would stand and board media player like Boxee and Roku. Surprisingly, it turned out that Apple chose to go a different way. Instead of setting up such an Atom processor with Nvidia ION to get a media player that can handle 1080p and all sorts of audio formats, you have instead chosen to go the other way and replace the Intel Pentium M 1 GHz / Nvidia 7300M-combo the Apple TV to an Apple A4 processor (with PowerVR SGX535), inserted IOS four and lowered the price properly.
Sorry Apple, I dont think this is the right way…
iPhone for 200 dollar
One iPhone for 200 dollars. Without subscription.
Google’s success in the mobile market with Android OS have make Apple, to think again. Now will the company start to investing in the market, for sheep phones.
The figures for the fourth quarter was not much fun reading for those who are at Apple. Android almost triple its share of the global smartphone market and its have now passed Apple by a wide margin. Android have now 32.9 percent against Apple’s 16 percent.
That is one of the reason that got Apple on other thoughts, and are now planning a counterattack. According to informed sources, are Apple now working with a low-cost version of the hit iPhone, writes Bloomberg News.
The new model will be the a third size of the existing iPhone, and work on multiple wireless networks and the price is said to be around $ 200, without requiring a two-year contract as the current models in the U.S., regarding to the source.
A cheaper version of the iPhone would also put further pressure on Nokia with their Symbian-based low-cost mobile that have been a great success on the European market.
Apple is also working on a new technology, a universal SIM card, which will result in the mobile user does not need to commit to a specific operator. It is unclear if the technology is part of the new phones.
Soon will iOS 4.3 arrived
From today, can customers in the U.S. mobile operator Verizon buy a special model of the iPhone 4 suitable for CDMA network. And David Pogue of The New York Times has written a review in which he says that he think that the IOS 3.4 released on 13 February and it then will be possible to create a so-called “human hotspot”.
A “human hotspot is about to use the iPhone as a base station for the wireless network. And then you can connect up to five things on the phone’s 3G connection.
That IOS 4.3 is released within two weeks is already known, the update is required to manage digital subscriptions to the App Store and this must be in operation by 16 February. Then newspaper The Daily, will not longer be free
The German site MacNotes even believe that Apple intends to organize an event presenting the news in IOS 4.3. Perhaps with a preview of the second generation iPad as “One more thing”?
My tip will be “Not” to A preview of the iPad 2, this will proberly lead to reduced of sales for the current model, and this does not sound like Steve Jobs as genius in marketing that he is.

Another iPad competitors
Then there will be another competitor to Apple’s iPad. Recently, it is a lot of companies trying to hook on the iPad succsess.
Now it is a Canadian company called Rim, which produces the Blackberry phones, which has launched a direct challenger to Apple’s iPad.
Rim’s CEO, Mike Lazaridis, took the opportunity to launch Rims Plabook at a developer conference in San Francisco tonight.
Playbook is built with a 1GHz dual-core Cortex A9 processor, it has 1GB of RAM, a 7-inch screen, e-book readers, document editing, and syncing with Blackberry handsets. Playbook can also clear 1080p HD video, HDMI and have USB ports. It is only 9.7 millimeters thick and has HD cameras at both the front and back. And, perhaps even more interesting, it has full support for Flash video.
The question remains whether this work developments will be a threat to the iPad.
Adobe Flash – Now for iPhone
Apple has changed the rules, and opens up the Flash to the iPhone. At least for applications that are constructed with the program.
Apple has changed the rules for the type of applications they allow for the Iphone. Now, developers no longer need to use the developer tools that Apple provides. In practice this means that developers using Adobe Flash can have their applications approved for the App Store. It does not mean that the iPhone will support Flash in general. You will not be able to view Flash content available like on the web in your Apple phone.
Adobe announces that “Packager for iPhone” is available in Flash Professional CS5 to make it easier for developers to deliver their programs to the iPhone. Apple will also release the guidelines for what happens when the company approves applications.
Iphone still bigger than Android
According to a new study leads Iphone operating system is still over Android.
The study is conducted by Chitika ad network based on figures from over 80 000 sites, mainly from the United States. The study was conducted during the first two weeks in July recorded about 9 million handsets in Ios, compared with about 7.7 million phones running Android.
Android growth is impressive given that the iPhone and Ios has been around for almost two years before Android was released. Android has the advantage that it’s on handsets from a variety of manufacturers so that it had a rapid growth.
According Chitika so run now almost exactly half of all iPhone Ios 4, Apple’s latest mobile operating system, released last month.
Among Androidtelefoner majority Android uses a 2.1 with a share of 55 percent. Android 2.2 (Froyo), released a few weeks ago running as yet only 3.3 percent of all Androidtelefoner. As 40 percent of Android-users still running on Android version 1.5 or 1.6.
Motorola Droid X vs. Iphone
Today, Thursday, July 15 Motorola released their new smart phone Droid X.
First up in the U.S. to begin selling Droid X is in the U.S. operator Verizon Wireless
The Android-based handset has received good reviews after a series of previews.
With a 4.3-inch screen, good multimedia features and a relatively long battery life compared to many competitors. Although it is unlikely to be so Droid X comes up in sales levels for the iPhone, but it have been showing signs of a great interest in Motorola’s new mobile. Zeus Kerravala, who is an analyst at Yankee Group, says that the earier release of Droid X that is to use all the bad publicity Iphone 4.
Verizon has not been slow to exploit antenna problems of Iphone 4, as a consumer magazine Consumer Reports recently warned. In the ads, the company produced exclusively to Droid X “dual antennas” which allows the user to “hold the phone how you want” and use it from anywhere to call.
Given that the iPhone sold four of 1.7 million copies the first three days, it is clear that it is the product of focus when it comes to competitors. U.S. retailer Best Buy have stopped all advance orders, and Verizon Wireless expects that the mobile phone runs out of stocks.
Droid X are using the operating system Android 2.1, an one update to Flash 2.2 and 1.10 later this year.
Talibans + Apples iPhone= ♥
Departmenten of defends worldwide are concern about the Taliban in Afghanistan starting to use smart phones like the iPhone.
The Taliban once again started to gain ground in Afghanistan.
According to Matt Yanopoilos of the Australian Department of Defence and he claims that this is because the Taliban have begun to invest in modern information technology.
Matt Yanopoilos says that the Taliban use the iPhone and various apps to collect relevant data.
It is well known that the Taliban, like Apple’s mobile. A year ago you could read that Mullah Zaif (known Taliban) used his iPhone to all sorts of things, Mullah Zaif should have said “it is easy to use and modern and I love it”
U.S. Army has now also become curious about the iPhone and other mobile solutions from Apple. High generals and military researchers have cautiously try to begun a partnership with Apple.
Success for Opera Mini
On the App Store’s top-10. Opera Mini is located in the top in all countries except one.
Opera Mini was released last Tuesday, and the Norwegian browser has become a huge success. This app is number one in virtually all countries, Australia is the only country that ranks in second place after the game Bird Strike.
Apple ♥ Opera
It took 20 days, 8 hours and 31 minutes for Apple to approve Opera Mini for iPhone and iPod tuch.
I have previously written about this, see here.
We should not take to much notice, that it took 20 days, it register lots of apps every day.
So now it is to download it to your device and see if it is as good as Opera says, for if it would be so, then I can not see one that will work with
safari in the future, one thing is for sure, Opera for PC is very good.
Opera wants to take over the Web on the iPhone
Norwegian Opera has now submitted Mini mobile web browser to the App Store.
If Apple will approve a competitor for iPhones Safari remains to be seen.
Analysts believe that Apple will stop Opera, so Apple can continue maintain control over the user’s surfing, say the news-agency Reuters.
Opera showed first up to Opera Mini for iPhone during the Mobile World Congress earlier this year. The developers say it is “rocket fast.” and claims that Mini load Web pages up to six times faster than the Apple iPhone’s default browser Safari.
The developers say it’s because Opera do compress data by up to 90 percent before it is sent to your mobile. This is an advantage, reducing costs for users that surf without a data plan with a fixed monthly fee, or if you use your iPhone abroad, says Opera.
Operas mini-browser is already available for several other mobile operating systems and will be available in more than 50 million handsets worldwide.
On Opera Mini’s page can you follow the time to see how long time ago it was submitted to iPhone for approve, this looks little like a PR-thing but quite cool if I can say that.
