Google get smalller in China
Google loses market in China…
China’s largest Internet portal Sina have replaced Google’s services with its own technology. This is a real setback for Google’s presence in the country.
Google has lost market in China since January last year, when the company that it will not longer agree to censor the content to comply with the Chinese government’s rules. Google have also accused China of blocking the e-mail service Gmail, which, however, is denied by China
Google is one of the few companies that have stood up to China, but according to Google, it is not just China that censor, they claims that more than 40 governments worldwide use of large-scale censorship of information via the Internet.

YouTube start to using HTML5
Googles YouTube will start using WebM… Will this be the death of Adobe Flash?
The war between Adobe (Flash) and Apple, because Apple’s continued refusal to flash in their system, has probably no one miss.
Many have believed and claim that this going to be flash’s death, and Adobe has been fighting for their flash as their program. Adobe flash is the biggest one on the market.
But there are also quite a few, including me, who said that Apple’s refusal to Flash will not have too much significance to flash to be or not be on the Web in coming years. This is because of YouTube video clips, archival work in flash.
But now it’s perhaps over …
Google has announced that all new videos uploaded on YouTube from now will be encoded to the open format Webm. But for YouTube, to konventera all video-clips, that is already on the site, will take time, so flash will still be an important part of YouTube for some time foreward.
Google has also announced that they will end with their own “Google Video” this service never have a real breakthrough. On May 15 they shut down this service.
Browsers like Firefox, Chrome and Opera are already prepared for WebM while Internet Explorer and Safari have to install a plugin to run the video in this format

Android Honeycomb Source Code Available
the source code for Google’s Android operating system version Honeycomb is available
Computer manufacturer Asus is the company that have uploaded the source code Android Honeycomb, even before Google itself.
Asus has recently launched their new pad, Transformer, and when it made the the source code the Honeycombs kernel available.
On their site, they say that is version V8.2.2.6 and the file is a 97 megabyte zip file. The entire code for Android 3.0, you will not get, but probably enough to interest developer to start developing for other devices than Transformer.
Asus haven’t done anything wrong, they simply followed the rules under the GNU General Public License (GPL), there it actually says that the source code of a product must comply with or be made available.
Google itself has not released the code and the have even delayed the delivery of the operating system to developers. The only thing thatis been around software development kit for Android 3.0 Honeycomb, that has been available since late February.
Nexus S, how good is it?
Google mobile Nexus S, how good is it?
Very good if you listen to the reviews and look at all tests made, Engadget even went so far as they Gave it reviewed ,” The best Android mobile ever made ”
Nexus S is a clean Android phone without any superimposed interface, and that means that you will get the latest updates first.
Nexus S is very fast, and Android 2.3 it also faster than previous versions. But Nexus S have get strong criticism that it dont have space for a micro-sd card, so for those who buy a Nexus S may simply be content with a built-in memory of 16 gigabytes .
Google Chrome 11
Google Chrome 11 coming soon…
At first glance, Google’s new Chrome 11 appear to function similarly to previous versions: a clean, simple browser that is significantly faster than most competitors.
But under the surface are there some interesting new features. The most intressting features is support HTML5 röstinmatnings API, a demo is available on HTML5 Rocks. It shows you how this could work right now – talking into the microphone, and your words appear in a text box – but more dynamic applications will proberly not be too far away.
Chrome 11 have also adds support for GPU-accelerated 3D CSS Transforms, which makes it possible to do more complex sites with minimal impact on your CPU usage. It is however surprising that Google is investing in 3D features. Chrome have earlier ther old icons with a flatter, more stylized version. And of course there are the usual pile of bug fixes, performance and other technical optimizations.
Google Declares War On Content Farms
Last week Google made one of the biggest changes to its search results so far.
This means a dramatic effect on many sites that rely on traffic from Googles search-engine.
Google changes their algorithms all the time to get that the most relevant sites will come top of search results.
Usually it is small changes that few people notice. But this tiome is a much more radical change – according to Google are 12 percent affected of the changes.
The pages that appear to be most affected are so-called content farms* – sites based on content that will draw much traffic from search engines.
Huffington Post and AOL are examples of companies that have been accused of using this tactic.
Lots of people are not happy, and on WebmasterWorlds forum are people express their dissatisfaction over the change, and one disappointed site owner writes “My good. I just lost 40% of my traffic from Google today” .
But not everyone is unhappy with Google’s changes, Google’s algorithms are a zero sum game, and many other sites-owner are happy over this changes.
* In the context of the World Wide Web, the term content farm is used to describe a company that employs large numbers of often freelance writers to generate large amounts of textual content which is specifically designed to satisfy algorithms for maximal retrieval by automated search engines. Internet is not open
China have blocked Linkedin.
Chinese authorities block Linkedin as part of the fight against the so-called “jasmine revolution. Users in Beijing who were trying to reach Linkedin was shown an error and Linkedin have confirmed the blockage.
Chinese authorities keep the internet in an iron grip. Politically sensitive content is regularly down and blocked.
I have in a eraly post writing about Googles problem in China, to read about click here.
Recent weeks have become tougher restrictions, as a result of mass protests in the Middle East. And now is anything containing the word Jasmin blocked in the search engines
Previously, both Facebook and Twitter blocked. The entire Internet has also shut down several times in different regions, sometimes for months.
The blocking of Facebook and Twitter have done to national social networks have become increasingly popular. And in the current situation, China has the world’s largest Internet population, 457 million users.
Microsoft’s is a major competitor than Facebook says Google
Google’s outgoing CEO Eric Schmidt is disappointed that Nokia chose Microsoft as a partner.
Around the same time he acknowledges Bill Gates’s creation as the main competitor in the foreseeable future.
- At present and for a long time, Microsoft is our main competitor. There is no doubt about it, “says Google’s outgoing CEO Eric Schmidt.
He will soon hand over as CEO to one of Google’s two founders – Larry Page – and himself take a step back from the light as chairman. But at the Mobile World Congress takes Eric Schmidt good time to answer questions from the large public. Perhaps to compensate for its otherwise unusual closed-communication policy.
Eric Schmidt comments on Bill Gates word for for 21 years ago: “Information at your fingertips”. Was entirely correct. But it has taken this long for technology to get there.
At same time that Eric Schmidt celebrates the visionary genius of Bill Gates and Microsoft he also says that Facebook and Twitter is not a competition to Google and in the same time he praises both Facebook and Twitter for there contributions to social networking.
Working at Google
Would you like to work for Google?
Then you need to hurry up and post your resume, Google received 75 000 applications in only one week. But then you should have in mind, that Google has gone out with they need to employed 6000 people during the year and with their strong brand name is it not to surprising.
But it is certainly the largest number of candidates that had search job on Google since May 2007. In 2010 Google hired 4500 people and 2007 6 300th
In a blog post said Alan Eustace, research manager at Google, that 2011 will be the year when they will hire more employers.

Android 2.4 or not?
There have been many smart phones in the first quarter of 2011 with Android 2.3.
But the operating system will get an update to 2.4. Already in April, Google is expected to finalize the next version, which claimed to have only one major function, namely to provide support for applications that are customized for Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) and dual-core processors.
The fact that all the information around the Android 2.4 does not come directly from Google has caused many to distrust the data. The Website DownloadSquad say they believe more that Android 2.4 will instead be 2.3.3 or 2.3.4.
Still, are not all smartphones on the market today received the Android 2.2 or 2.3. Several manufacturers of smartphones are still optimizes 2.2 for their models and some have chosen not to update at all. Sony Ericsson for example, has said that the Xperia series, will not get Android 2.2 it will jump straight to 2.3 or 2.4 with the upcoming Sony Ericsson Arc and Neo.
A problem that already exists today is that consumers do not know which models will be updated and need to chance when purchase. Generally, the more expensive models are maintained better, while the budget variations are more uncertain. The manufacturers can not guarantee future updates, but users are in great hope for the best.

If you want to get more space, you can use Google Storage that allows you to purchase additional gigabytes, which you can use free of Gmail, Google Docs and Picasa. An expansion to 20 gigabytes costs five dollars per year and 200 gigabytes costs $ 50.

Desktop notifications are now working in new Gmail
This is not my post, The auther is Stan Schroeder that writing on Mashable (The text is copy straight over) Thanks Stan Schroeder
If you’re one of those folks who has to keep checking your Gmail inbox for new messages every two minutes, here’s a cure: Gmail now lets you receive desktop notifications for new chat messages and/or e-mails.
To turn the feature on, click on Settings in the upper right corner of Gmail, scroll down and choose whether you want to be notified of chat messages, e-mails, or only important e-mails.
The new feature is HTML5-based and currently works only in Chrome, but Google says it’s working to make notifications part of the standard web platform.
Desktop notifications are nothing new and we’ve seen dozens of third-party apps that do it (GWatchman, for example, is a good choice), so if you don’t want to be dependent on Google Chrome, you can use one of those. Still, it’s nice to see Google recognizing this feature as important and integrating it into Gmail, which is still being improved upon at an amazing pace, with new features showing up almost on a weekly basis.
Planned downtime is not for Google.
The clause for planned outages have been removed from the Google Apps service.
Most of the companies that offering cloud services have a clause in the agreements relating to service interruptions due to planned maintenance. Google has now deleted the entry under the service agreement for its Google Apps customers.
- Unlike most other suppliers we do not plan any downtime for our users, even when we upgrade our services and maintain our systems, “said Matthew Glotzbach, product manager for Google enterprise products.
In practice, we trust Google so much that they have redundant systems that can handle the necessary maintenance without the services affected by rain.
It included all the downturn in its term, even those that are less than ten minutes. If uptime falls below 99.9 percent in a month Google will replacing the customer with three days extra time.
In 2010 was Gmail available 99.984 percent of the year, an average of seven minutes of downtime per month.

Microsoft Office 365 do not take Google Docs serious

Last month, Microsoft released Office 365 which includes Exchange and Sharepoint. - Googles Docs are missing important features, such as delegating access thats allows a user to handle your personal calendar. Although Active Directory integration is lacking, “says Kelly.
- I think Google has an interesting consumer service. They have given this service a name and it makes people interested, “continues Kelly.
One of Google representatives, Andrew Kovacs dismiss such claims.
- The truth is that our business is accelerating and our re-investment rate of profits is greater than 90 percent. More companies are switching to Google than Microsoft.
Firefox starts with silent updates
Mozilla comes with a function for silent updates in the next version of Firefox, where the browser automatically updated to the latest version without user intervention.
This functionality will be included in the next version of Firefox, version 4. But only for the Windows version of the browser. According to Mozilla, Mac and Linux will still get updates like today.
For Windows users who want to retain control over whether an update should be done or not, will it be possible to set the silent update to active or not. But for the really big updates, such as from version 4.0 to 4.5, the browser will still ask for permission, regardless of settings, said Alex Faaborg, developers of Mozilla in a forum post.
Unlike Google’s Chrome, which started the trend by removing the end-user from updating equation, September 2008 has no way to turn this off.
