- Google intruducerar Gmail service for your own domain.
- Apple put down the Mac Mini Series.
- Oompa Loompa, the first malicious code for Mac OS X is discovered.
February 10 years ago
- A U.S. Court of Appeal ordering Napster to cease service that enables users to share copyrighted matrial.
Eight days later Napster offer to pay one billion U.S. dollars over the next five years against the company can continue with their file sharing activities, the proposal is not accepted.. - One early version of Windows XP shows up at the Experience Music Project in Seattle.
- Police in the Netherlands across the author of the Kournikova virus

- Microsoft quietly release Windows 95 OSR2. The system mainly consists bugfixes but also includes news, such as the file-system Fat32.
- Texas Instruments, and Victor Company, present a co-production, that allows realistic sourround sound with just two speakers.

- Intel changing its 37 years old logo, and announcing that they put down the 15 year old campaign Intel Inside.
- At the CES in Los Angeles presented the Blu-Ray for the first time.
- AMD releases the processor, Athlon 64 FX-60.
January 10 years ago
- Linux kernel 2.4 is released.
- Intel unveils its fastest processor, the Pentium 4 at 1.3 gigahertz.
- AltaVista, in the time one of the world’s largest search engine, laying off 200 people, about 25% of their staff
January 15 years ago
- Microsoft and Sun settlement of the dispute over Java. Microsoft pays 20 million dollars and can use a Java version in Microsoft-products for 7 years.
- Palm Pilot from U.S. Robotics is released.
- Apple Computer makes a quarterly loss of 69 million dollars and laying off 1,300 people. It is reputed that they have tried to find a buyer for the company but failed.

- Microsoft announce that all support for Internet Explorer for Macintosh expires at the end of the year.
- IBM end all production of OS / 2 products.
- Seagate Technology, buy Maxtor at a price of 1.9 billion dollars in shares.

- Antivirus company Sophos says that this year’s worst viruses are “Kakworm” this virus has topped the list since January when it was discovered.
- Apple present the first iMac with the Intel-processor.
- Fantaisie Software releases version 2 of the programming language PureBasic.

- Netscape and Sun publish the name of a new cross-platform scripting language for the Internet – Javascript
- IBM, Microsoft, Adobe and Symantec agree with Sun on the license the use of Javascript.
- Apple release version 2,0 of the operativ system Newton.

- Microsoft releases Internet Explorer 2.0.

- It discovered that Sony BMG, has installed a “Rotkit” together with their copy-protection program for CD:s in Windows. Sony BMG said in an interview “Most people do not know what a rotkit is, so why bother”
- Apple launches version 10.4.3 of Apple OS X
October 10 years ago
- Microsoft acknowledges that some of its most important programs has been hacked, but no source has changed. Violation was made with a worm called QAZ that was discovered a few months before
- Sun launches OpenOffice
- Maxtor buys Quantum disk manufacture of a billion dollars in shares
October 15 years ago
- IBM celebrates the anniversary of the launch of the operating system OS/2 Warp with nearly 4 million copies sold
- Novell said in a statement that it will stop with business applications software and concentrate fully on network software

- For the first time in U.S. The shops selling more laptops than desktops
- Appell introduce “Mighty Mouse” this is the first mouse from Appel that have more than one button

- Microsoft and the Justice Department in the U.S. come to an agreement concerning the licensing of Windows for the next six years, after a 4 years long investigation into Microsoft’s monopolistic practices
