Why are Nokia still develop Sybian….

Not long ago, Nokia advertiser that they should work together with Microsoft, and use their mobile “Windows Mobil 7″.

But Nokia have just released two new smart phones, Nokia X7 and Nokia E6, and they will both use one updated version of Symbian. They say themselves that they have made over 50 improvements. The operating system has recently been heavily criticized for being old and inefective to the two big competitors, Android and IOS.

Nokia E6 is a “follow-up” to the success with the popular E71 and E72. With a complete physical keyboard, a screen of 2.46 inch, 256 MB of RAM, 8 GB hours of storage, 7,5h talktime, WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS.

Nokia X7, has support for recording video in HD quality, an 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and battery of 1200 mAh that will provide up to 4.5 hours talk time.

It might not be anything wrong with updating an outdated system, but given work with Microsoft and the fact that the Sybian is so far behind already, I think it would probably have been better to put all enargi on Windows Mobile, and bury the Sybian once and for all

Very good if you listen to the reviews and look at all tests made, Engadget even went so far as they Gave it reviewed ,” The best Android mobile ever made ”
Nexus S is a clean Android phone without any superimposed interface, and that means that you will get the latest updates first.

Nexus S is very fast, and Android 2.3 it also faster than previous versions. But Nexus S have get strong criticism that it dont have space for a micro-sd card, so for those who buy a Nexus S may simply be content with a built-in memory of 16 gigabytes .

Nokia have begun work on the first smartphone that uses Windows Phone 7 (WP7). Nokia hopes that they can present the model before the end of this year.

Symbian has long been the operating system Nokia uses in their phones, even companies, like Sony Ericsson and LG have use this system. But most have now leave this system in favor of Android.

When Microsofts Windows Mobile 6.5 came, it was harshly criticized by both users and reviewers.
And Microsoft was upgrading their mobile operating system and many think this system will be win or lose for Microsoft mobil adventure.
The question is now if Nokia decides to launch a high-quality mobile phone, or it will be a budget phone.

In a earlier post I wrote about the work between Microsoft and Nokia, read more here.

Is this the reason why Nokia chose Microsoft?

Bloomberg published in the days one article alleging that Microsoft will pay up to a billion dollars over five years. According to Bloomberg are the money only guaranteed to Nokia if they invests in Windows Phone and refrain completely from Android. The source should be a person that was close in the negotiations between Microsoft and Nokia.

The same source also says that Nokia will pay Microsoft a license fee for each phone sold with Windows Phone, this cost will be offset from Microsoft which Nokia also conducts its own research in software and development.

Since the deal between Nokia and Microsoft became official on February 11, shares have fallen by 26 percent. It says a lot of what shareholders think about this collaboration.

On the day of Bloomberg publishes the article, it comes data from the analyst-firm Comscore with information that Microsoft has lost user in the U.S. market in January this year, despite the fact that Windows 7 Phone has been in stores since last November.

How will future communications look like?

Mobile giant AT & T’s chief technology officer John Donovan believes he has the answer and says that a revolution that will make your brand new iPad into a museum piece is not far away.
- Smart phones and surf boards will not be necessary in 2020, “he says.

Donovan, chief technology officer of the U.S. telecom giant AT & T, predicts that a new technology revolution, moments and all the necessary data will shortly be stored online and accessible from any device. According to Donovan, the consequence that today’s innovations such as surf boards and smart phones will be considered old-fashioned as early than 2020.

Instead, we will be able to use almost any wireless device at any time, perhaps a television set, to make calls, send messages or connect to social networks like Facebook and Twitter.
The user can specify a password or fingerprint, thereby reaching all of their stored information.
- Software will converge, devices will disappear and we will have fewer units that belong to us.
- I do not see the need to carry around a separate unit when I visit you in your house. I borrow the one you have and authenticates me on, “says Donovan

There have been many smart phones in the first quarter of 2011 with Android 2.3.
But the operating system will get an update to 2.4. Already in April, Google is expected to finalize the next version, which claimed to have only one major function, namely to provide support for applications that are customized for Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) and dual-core processors.

The fact that all the information around the Android 2.4 does not come directly from Google has caused many to distrust the data. The Website DownloadSquad say they believe more that Android 2.4 will instead be 2.3.3 or 2.3.4.

Still, are not all smartphones on the market today received the Android 2.2 or 2.3. Several manufacturers of smartphones are still optimizes 2.2 for their models and some have chosen not to update at all. Sony Ericsson for example, has said that the Xperia series, will not get Android 2.2 it will jump straight to 2.3 or 2.4 with the upcoming Sony Ericsson Arc and Neo.

A problem that already exists today is that consumers do not know which models will be updated and need to chance when purchase. Generally, the more expensive models are maintained better, while the budget variations are more uncertain. The manufacturers can not guarantee future updates, but users are in great hope for the best.

The security company Scio Security has discovered a serious security hole in Android that makes it possible to download apps in the background, without user knowledge or consent.
To prove the concept, they created an app that claimed to be the new game courses to the popular game Angry Bird. When this app was downloaded, was also an additional three apps installed.

Apps were not harmful, Scio Security would only prove how easy it is to perform and that it is perfectly possible to use the same method to install malicious apps on Android.
Google has acted quickly to the news and remove Scio Security app from the Android Market, stock, and Google released an update to Android that close the current security hole.

The only problem is. with Android is that most operating system updates have to be updated by mobile phone manufacturer. This means that it can sometimes take several months before a bugfix reach end users.
