iOS bigger then Linux

Those of you who follow me here knows that I came in contact with Linux by a friend back in 1993.

At that time the installation was not graphic, and I have said before that Linux ‘Will Never” grow strong for the home users as long as this not was sorted.
In late 2004, the first vesionen of Ubunto came and it have graphical interface.

Linux began to grow, got more and more users, but it never went that big as I thought it should be. And now, many years after has iOS for Apple iPad passed Linux all distrubation in less then one year

As I’ve written before, Windows 7 is the most widely used OS in the U.S. by 32%, followed by 31% for Windows Xp, Windows Vista, with 19% and Apple Mac X by nearly 15%
Linux has only 0.7% and is then passed by the iOS for iPad with 1.20%. Another thing we should have in mind, is that the IOS is only used by iPad (mobiles are not included) while the other OS is used on both laptops and desktops

YouTube start to using HTML5

Googles YouTube will start using WebM… Will this be the death of Adobe Flash?

The war between Adobe (Flash) and Apple, because Apple’s continued refusal to flash in their system, has probably no one miss.
Many have believed and claim that this going to be flash’s death, and Adobe has been fighting for their flash as their program. Adobe flash is the biggest one on the market.

But there are also quite a few, including me, who said that Apple’s refusal to Flash will not have too much significance to flash to be or not be on the Web in coming years. This is because of YouTube video clips, archival work in flash.

But now it’s perhaps over …

Google has announced that all new videos uploaded on YouTube from now will be encoded to the open format Webm. But for YouTube, to konventera all video-clips, that is already on the site, will take time, so flash will still be an important part of YouTube for some time foreward.
Google has also announced that they will end with their own “Google Video” this service never have a real breakthrough. On May 15 they shut down this service.

Browsers like Firefox, Chrome and Opera are already prepared for WebM while Internet Explorer and Safari have to install a plugin to run the video in this format

Android Honeycomb Source Code Available

the source code for Google’s Android operating system version Honeycomb is available

Computer manufacturer Asus is the company that have uploaded the source code Android Honeycomb, even before Google itself.

Asus has recently launched their new pad, Transformer, and when it made the the source code the Honeycombs kernel available.
On their site, they say that is version V8.2.2.6 and the file is a 97 megabyte zip file. The entire code for Android 3.0, you will not get, but probably enough to interest developer to start developing for other devices than Transformer.

Asus haven’t done anything wrong, they simply followed the rules under the GNU General Public License (GPL), there it actually says that the source code of a product must comply with or be made available.

Google itself has not released the code and the have even delayed the delivery of the operating system to developers. The only thing thatis been around software development kit for Android 3.0 Honeycomb, that has been available since late February.

Nokia lunch smartphones with sybian

Why are Nokia still develop Sybian….

Not long ago, Nokia advertiser that they should work together with Microsoft, and use their mobile “Windows Mobil 7″.

But Nokia have just released two new smart phones, Nokia X7 and Nokia E6, and they will both use one updated version of Symbian. They say themselves that they have made over 50 improvements. The operating system has recently been heavily criticized for being old and inefective to the two big competitors, Android and IOS.

Nokia E6 is a “follow-up” to the success with the popular E71 and E72. With a complete physical keyboard, a screen of 2.46 inch, 256 MB of RAM, 8 GB hours of storage, 7,5h talktime, WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS.

Nokia X7, has support for recording video in HD quality, an 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and battery of 1200 mAh that will provide up to 4.5 hours talk time.

It might not be anything wrong with updating an outdated system, but given work with Microsoft and the fact that the Sybian is so far behind already, I think it would probably have been better to put all enargi on Windows Mobile, and bury the Sybian once and for all

Windows 7 Is Now The Largest OS In USA

StatCounter, has in a study concluded that Windows 7 now has passed Windows XP as the most widely used operating system in the United States.

Windows 7 has taken market-share from both Windows XP and Vista, and this has made the Windows 7 now has passed XP, and it is the largest operating system. Mac OS X has made a marginal increase, but does not reach 15%. While Linux has almost not changed at all but it dont even reach 1%

Microsoft is constantly trying to reduce the use of their older operating systems, and this is done in a rather ugly way.
By stopping the popular program from working on them. Latest is the Internet Explorer 9, that can not be used with Windows XP.
But many companies are choosing to wait before the make upgrade of Windows XP, much to the part of the high license costs, but also because of uncertainty about the functioning of the program.

Opera Mini growing strong

Norwegian Opera has reached 100 million downloads

Nexus S, how good is it?

Google mobile Nexus S, how good is it?

Very good if you listen to the reviews and look at all tests made, Engadget even went so far as they Gave it reviewed ,” The best Android mobile ever made ”
Nexus S is a clean Android phone without any superimposed interface, and that means that you will get the latest updates first.

Nexus S is very fast, and Android 2.3 it also faster than previous versions. But Nexus S have get strong criticism that it dont have space for a micro-sd card, so for those who buy a Nexus S may simply be content with a built-in memory of 16 gigabytes .

Photoshop Express for Iphone and Ipad

Are you taking lots of photos with your mobile phone?

Photoshop Express 2.0 is then an excellent app, and its free.
The app is only available for IOS machines, not for Android, a think its little weak, given Android’s growth over the past year.

The app has a wide variety of basic editing tools like, cropping, straightening, flipping and rotating. It is also possible to adjust color levels, saturation and brightness. A number of filters and special effects and a lot of frames that can be added around the pictures. Its also possible to share the edit pictures with other IOS devices.

The mobile version of Photoshop will never be a replacement for the desktop version of the software, but for a mobile app, it is incredibly impressive.

Google Chrome 11

Google Chrome 11 coming soon…

At first glance, Google’s new Chrome 11 appear to function similarly to previous versions: a clean, simple browser that is significantly faster than most competitors.

But under the surface are there some interesting new features. The most intressting features is support HTML5 röstinmatnings API, a demo is available on HTML5 Rocks. It shows you how this could work right now – talking into the microphone, and your words appear in a text box – but more dynamic applications will proberly not be too far away.

Chrome 11 have also adds support for GPU-accelerated 3D CSS Transforms, which makes it possible to do more complex sites with minimal impact on your CPU usage. It is however surprising that Google is investing in 3D features. Chrome have earlier ther old icons with a flatter, more stylized version. And of course there are the usual pile of bug fixes, performance and other technical optimizations.

Why use PREDATOR?

Lock your computer with a USB flash drive…

PREDATOR 1.3.4.1 is a free program that has a single function, to lock your computer to unauthorized access.
The program makes one encoded file that you have on your USB flash drive. Windows has its own password protected login. But with the Predator you will also need the USB flash drive with the encoded file that acts like a key.
I see no major benefit with this program, but it is simple to use and works very well, when you pull out the USB stick the computer lockes automatically, and must then connected again to unlock the data.
As many of us know, its that is very easy tole the USB flash drive, but there is a backup solution for this. You can log in with a password and failed login will be logged, so that you can see if someone has tried to log into the computer while you are away from it.

As I comment before … I dont see any use for this, if you have a “real” password this is not necessary, and if you have a simple password, then is a big chance to have a simple password for unlock the computer in lost of the USB flash drive. So it must be a better solution to have ONE GOOD PASSWORD.

Good and free is possible

A very good and simple image viewer software…

RoboReader is a image viewer program and its free. When it comes to file formats, it is not the strongest, because the program is limited to the main formats (.jpg, .bmp, .png, .gif, .tiff and .ico). You can also browse for images content in different types of archive files (ZIP, RAR, 7Z, CBZ, CBR).

When you double-clicked on a picture to see it, can RoboReader browse through all the other images in the folder or archive file, either automatically (thrue a slide show) or manually (using the left and right arrow keys to move through the list).

There are lots of keyboard shortcuts to manipulate the image you are watching.

The program is only available for Windows users, and can only be used by Vista-users and upwards

Linux in all HP computers

All HP computers will come with pre-installed Linux-based WebOS next year.

Say HP’s CEO Leo Apotheker last week. But WebOS will not replace Windows on HP computers as the primary operating system. Instead, the user will get a option to choose which operating system they shall start.

The operating system WebOS, is a Linux-based operating system that came with HP’s takeover of Palm in April last year.

HP has previously gone out with the statement that they intend to invest in WebOS on both touchpads and smart phones. Today, is only two percent of HP’s coming from software. Therefore, many people see HP’s commitment to proprietary WebOS as a strategy from HP to become more software-oriented.

Countdown For Internet Explorer 6

That people are still using Internet Explorer 6, is beyond me understanding…

The reasoning that it still works, does not hold for a program that is 10 years old. Can not understand that the developers still have to think of this when it comes to web applications.

Internet Explorer 6 is not as stable and fast as the new ones, so what is it then the reasons to keep this browser?.

Overall, it is still 12% who use IE 6, China is still big with the 34.5% that using ver.6. This is followed by South Korea, with 24.8%, Taiwan at 10.7%.

But countries such as Japan (10.3%), United Kingdom (3.5%) and USA (2.9%) still have users.

Of all countries, it is the Scandinavian countries with the least coverage for this browser, Norway (0.7%), Finland (0.9%), Sweden (1.3%) and Denmark (1.6%)

Run XP Mode in Windows 7

There are not many people knowing that you can run Windows XP Mode in Windows 7…

That required of course that you have some of the editions Enterprise, Professional or Ultimatum.
We will have to agree that Windows XP after various service pack in the end was stable and worked well, especially when compared with Windows 98… Windows Millennium, I would rather not comment, but says simply
- It is a Windows distribution that should never been released.

But why would anybody wants to run Windows 7 in XP mode?
Windows 7 and Windows 2000 (in this time) are some of the best distributions that Microsoft has released so why go back one step?
It might be that you have some old programs that can’t be run under Windows 7, well I personal think that the best solotion is to find a program that can be run under Windows 7.

This is entirely my opinion, and those who disagree with and would need to run in XP mode can click here to get a detailed description how to do.
