Why are Nokia still develop Sybian….

Not long ago, Nokia advertiser that they should work together with Microsoft, and use their mobile “Windows Mobil 7″.

But Nokia have just released two new smart phones, Nokia X7 and Nokia E6, and they will both use one updated version of Symbian. They say themselves that they have made over 50 improvements. The operating system has recently been heavily criticized for being old and inefective to the two big competitors, Android and IOS.

Nokia E6 is a “follow-up” to the success with the popular E71 and E72. With a complete physical keyboard, a screen of 2.46 inch, 256 MB of RAM, 8 GB hours of storage, 7,5h talktime, WiFi 802.11n, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS.

Nokia X7, has support for recording video in HD quality, an 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash and battery of 1200 mAh that will provide up to 4.5 hours talk time.

It might not be anything wrong with updating an outdated system, but given work with Microsoft and the fact that the Sybian is so far behind already, I think it would probably have been better to put all enargi on Windows Mobile, and bury the Sybian once and for all

StatCounter, has in a study concluded that Windows 7 now has passed Windows XP as the most widely used operating system in the United States.

Windows 7 has taken market-share from both Windows XP and Vista, and this has made the Windows 7 now has passed XP, and it is the largest operating system. Mac OS X has made a marginal increase, but does not reach 15%. While Linux has almost not changed at all but it dont even reach 1%

Microsoft is constantly trying to reduce the use of their older operating systems, and this is done in a rather ugly way.
By stopping the popular program from working on them. Latest is the Internet Explorer 9, that can not be used with Windows XP.
But many companies are choosing to wait before the make upgrade of Windows XP, much to the part of the high license costs, but also because of uncertainty about the functioning of the program.

Those of you who follow my blog know how I reasoning about Windows. Windows 7 is very stable compared with the early versions, and now I use windows much more than when I ran in XP (I will not even mention Vista) I have also said that Microsoft is the only company in the world that can sell a half finished program.

Once again, Microsoft will released a record updated. This update are also includes Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer, and it will sort 64 bugs.
The update consists 17 partial update, and nine of them are rated as critical. The remaining eight are classified as importan.

The update are as you can read not only for Windows, its for the 3 biggest Microsoft software. Anyway… I dont think no other software are being update that offen and with that many fixes like Microsofts program

It would have been fun to count all the updates that are made the last 18 months, but the risk had been that I would go back to my PC-dealer and ask for the money back.

There are not many people knowing that you can run Windows XP Mode in Windows 7…

That required of course that you have some of the editions Enterprise, Professional or Ultimatum.
We will have to agree that Windows XP after various service pack in the end was stable and worked well, especially when compared with Windows 98… Windows Millennium, I would rather not comment, but says simply
- It is a Windows distribution that should never been released.

But why would anybody wants to run Windows 7 in XP mode?
Windows 7 and Windows 2000 (in this time) are some of the best distributions that Microsoft has released so why go back one step?
It might be that you have some old programs that can’t be run under Windows 7, well I personal think that the best solotion is to find a program that can be run under Windows 7.

This is entirely my opinion, and those who disagree with and would need to run in XP mode can click here to get a detailed description how to do.

Microsoft reports record figures for the fourth quarter of 2010. Games and office suite, Office drives sales upward.
Microsoft brings in 19.95 billion dollars in sales in its second quarter financial statements, which ended 31 December. Turnover rises by 5 or 15 percent, depending on how you count. The higher figure includes deferred revenue from pre-orders of Windows 7, which became available in October 2009. Without the 1.7 billion that ticked into time, the increase had fallen to 5 percent.

The profit Gains to 6.63 billion dollars, slightly lower than the figure for the fourth quarter of 2009, which stood at 6.66 billion dollars.

- Corporations Division has gone surprisingly well, “said Forrester analyst Andrew Bartels, commenting on the financial statements. He notes that Microsoft has had the vapors, including Office, Dynamics ERP and environment program SharePoint. The strong sales on the business side is a sign of an upward turn in the economy, “he emphasizes.
- It bodes well not only for the whole economy, but it is also good news for Microsoft, deriving most of its revenue from businesses, “says Bartels.

But despite the success of Windows 7, with 300 million sold copies, so there is a stagnation there.
- The cause is difficult to define, but it is possible that the iPad hitting the PC sales, “he says. In a subsequent closing conference admits CFO Peter Klein to iPad and other touchpads affect sales of Windows negatively.

Server division increased 10 percent, two percentage points lower than Forrester’s forecast. One sign of trouble there is that Microsoft in early January announced that the server boss Bob Muglia, who heads the division, will step down later this year.

Buzz
There was no bigger buzz surrounding Google’s try to challenger Twitter. After a launch, which was lined with issues surrounding user privacy, this was never any successes.
Apple Ping
Apple succeeds with almost everything it takes for itself in recent times. Almost. The social music service, Ping, did not to success. A social network that only works in iTunes, and have not led to greater usage.
Google Wave
Google Wave was supposed to revolutionize how we communicate with each other. The service was a mix of email and chat, almost no one understood how it could be used. Google Wave was closed just three months after launch.
Privacy on Facebook
Despite Facebook’s rapid growth the company has big problems to protect user privacy. The service has also been hit by several incidents and bugs that made it possible for third parties to collect private information about users.
McAfee’s False Alarm
Security company McAfee did a smash gaffe when released an update to one of their programs, that rated as a system file in Windows as malicious. The result: thousands of Windows computers crashed and the users had serious problems getting the computer to function normally again.
Palm Pre and WebOS
Palm hoped that Palm Pre and its operating systems, WebOS, would be a worthy contender to the iPhone. Sales have unfortunately gone so bad that most analysts do not even mention Palm Pre in their reports.
Surf Boards with Android
2010 was the year when surfing on Android-plates would take over. Even so, Apple iPad dominated sales, accounting for 95 percent of the market. The only real challenger is Samsung Galaxy Tab.
Iphone 4 Antennagate
Whether antenna problems Iphone 4 are justified or not, but Apple has a snap on the nose that shows how much the company’s customers expect from its products.
White Iphone 4
After months of promises from Apple, it has still not been a white model of Iphone 4th The latest bid is that it will be released sometime this spring. It might be better to drop the plans completely and instead go for a white model of the iPhone 5
Microsoft Kin
Microsoft attempts to create a socially mobile phone was doomed from the start. The only thing you could call “socially” was that you could use facebook on the phone. Microsoft Kin was closed just six weeks after launch.

This can be crucial for Microsoft to continue to break into the mobile market.
Today dominates the market for mobile operating systems of the IOS, Android and Symbian.
However, Microsoft is now widely supported by various mobile manufacturers for the launch and a lot of interesting models appear to be available once the system is launched. According to the site Pocket-lint data suggest now that the official launch date for the system will be on 11 October. It will be interesting to see how it will go for Microsoft this time.

But in a place you are fighting to keep it – in the British government. The government in Britain refuses to upgrade departmental computers because it “would be too expensive.”

Over 6000 Britons have signed a petition to get the government to replace the outdated version, as both are vulnerable to attacks and requires a site developer to customize their pages to support the reader.

The people behind the petition want the government to at least advise their employees to download the alternative browser to surf the outside respondents’ own systems, but the government maintains IE6.

“Nothing guarantees that a change from the patched version of IE6 to a different browser is an extra safety”, says the government in a statement.

On Tuesday, Microsoft will release a monster update that fills a whole 34 bugs in several of their programs.
Microsoft have announced that they will release a record updated, which consists of a total of 14 individual updates for Windows, IE, Office, and Silverlight.

The update fills a total of 34 bugs including eight that have been classified as critical and sex as important, the second highest classification. Users of Windows XP SP2 will only have access to some of the updates then support for that version has been discontinued.

Wolfgang Kandek the security company Qualsys. says:
- I would call it a massive patch on Tuesday. There is a huge update and it is important that all interested parties. I’m actually a bit surprised how big it really is,
- This is great, not only because of the number of incremental updates, but due to scale and that it affects everybody, “says Wolfgang Kandek.

Next week’s update beats Microsoft’s previous record updates in October last year and February. All versions of Windows are affected, including Windows 7, which may be a full ten updates.

Furter Wolfgang Kandek says:
- We had expected a big update, but my concern is for those users still running Windows XP SP2. Any problems that clog up the Windows XP SP3 is safe even in SP2, but they will not be remedied.
